TWEED THE MUSICAL is an entirely new, entirely Canadian, and entirely original musical written around the founding of a town, and the love and lives that are hatched therein. The show is set in the burgeoning new town of Tweed, and revolves around the characters of David and Sarah as they meet, fall in love, and are torn apart by the coming war.
This show is full of all original music, written by the incredibly talented Andre Morin. Based on facts, quotes and research about the community of Tweed, the story, written by myself is a fiction, taking over 60 years of history and combining it into a two year time frame.
Andre and I have been working on the show for two years now, and are very excited about remounting what turned out to be an incredible show. When we first decided to produce this show last season, we started to think about what would make it a success. We decided that a great start would be to create the show in the town of Tweed, working in the community that it is based on. So we rehearsed in Tweed for 10 days working up to the production, creating this musical for the first time.
Next we started to think about who we would like to be involved. So we created our dream list, and were lucky enough to get all of our first choices. The script went through over ten revisions before our performances last year, and Andre and I continue to rework, expand and improve the show.
We were so excited to bring the show to the town of Tweed, and in particular to the newly renovated Marble Church Arts Centre. And now, we could not be more excited to be bringing it to downtown Toronto! We are also revamping our set, and adding additional costumes to accent the intoxicating designs by Vanessa Dunne.
This show is sure to be a true delight, and we can't wait to share it with you! Have a look around the site for much more information about the show, or head on over to ianatheatre.com for more information about our company and future shows. See you at the show!
