ALECK BELL: A Canadian Pop-Rock Musical is IANA's brand new musical based on the epic life story of Alexander Graham Bell. Produced and conceived by myself and written by Joel MacMeekin. Opening the show, Narrator Mabel sets the mood for you to take the long journey back to Edinburgh in the mid 1800s.  The world knows Alexander Graham Bell as the man who invented the first practical telephone. This show is not only about the inventor, but the man himself - the man that most never knew.

I had the idea of making the story of Alexander Graham Bell into a musical after reading a biography about his life. I was pleasantly surprised wehn reading the book how much great content there was there for a musical. In 2010, I collaborated with Toronto actor and playwright Joel MacMeekin (Missing In Action, Tweed The Musical) to help create this monster musical. Being unsure of what and how to properly write a musical about a man as legendary as Alexander Graham Bell, Joel and I spent a long time reading, researching, brainstorming and planning how this musical should look and sound. After hours and hours of making guidelines and blue prints, we finally had all the angles covered. There was only one missing element. What music would best help tell the story? Included in a long list of amazing accomplishments, eclectic and memorable music is definitely one of Canada's best.  With Canada being IANA Theatre Company's one true muse, Canadian music is exactly what this show needed. Adding a modern twist to an autobiographical old story, is just a little something that makes ALECK BELL a true Canadian gem!

IANA audiences are expecting the best so IANA gives them the best. An ensemble of some of the best performers Canada has to offer, is just one more trick this show has up it's sleave. This show is blessed to have two truly gifted actors playing the role of Alexander Graham Bell at two very different stages in his life.

Keeping tradition strong and true, IANA Theatre Company will be opening ALECK BELL in Tweed, Ontario at the Marble Church. The same venue IANA's own TWEED: The Musical premiered for the first time to Canada. When audiences come to see this show, they will laugh, cry, and most of all ROCK OUT! They will learn about Alexander Graham Bell's true life trials and tribulations he had to endure in order to keep his famous title, and be with the woman he loved. The story of this Scottish / Canadian / American is definitely one for the books - and the stage.
